We are seeking to create a platform for all our university groups to come together in a student forum to hear all of our voices and share all of our stories. We are proposing an “Alliance for Justice” week, where ALL campus groups can come together and share in each others’ grief and pain and create a real sense of cohesiveness on campus. This collective alliance is not to push forward particular political agendas, but to bring our campus community together.
We seek to go beyond binaries (Israelis v. Palestinians, Armenians v. Turks, Sikhs v. Hindus, etc.), as our goal is not to merely have us articulate the positions of states or spokespeople, but rather to create real human interface between the students that make up the campus community.
Alliance for Justice is a week long event that raises awareness to the injustices that have occurred throughout history.
“Voices Against Injustice (Open Mic Night) – Students, artists, and faculty will be invited to speak, sing, perform, spoken word, etc.
“Witnesses Against Injustice” Film Screenings – Various films, documentaries, short clips, etc. will be shown to provide more insight.
“Scholars Against Injustice” Lectures Series – Professors, graduate students, actors, etc. will give a short “lecture” that gives more information on an injustice.
“United Against Injustce” Candlelight Vigil – ALL campus organizations would be invited to come attend and share in each other’s grief to stand UNITED AGAINST IMPUNITY. The candlelight vigil will include each group and sharing their community’s pain for 1 minute – strict rules as we are here to hear each others’ pains, not point fingers – and ending with a moment of silence to all those that were murdered and a promise to stand together in the future to “End Impunity”.
